Cast Planning

The main task of the cast planning is to optimally assign the sequence of and the combination of molds (see picture below). The challenge is to generate a production plan that satisfies all customer orders and exploits the capacity of the resources (foundry, furnace, cast, smelt, etc.) in the most optimal way. One cast consists of a few sections and the planner knows how much is needed to create the molds. To generate an optimal production plan, the software tool can use a linear optimization algorithm.
